Announcement from the Graduate Student Advisory Committee (GSAC) - Gentiana Sadikaj
The Sixth
Annual Jerry S. Wiggins Student Award for Outstanding Interpersonal Research
Announcement
The SITAR Graduate Student Advisory Committee (GSAC) is pleased to announce this year’s winner of the Jerry S. Wiggins Award for Outstanding Interpersonal Research. This award is given annually by SITAR to recognize and promote outstanding student research in interpersonal psychology. The award is given to the best student presentation (poster or talk) given at the annual SITAR conference. Students who indicate their intention to have their work considered for the award are automatically enrolled in the award competition upon acceptance of their conference proposals.
The sixth annual award competition took place at the SITAR meeting in New Haven, Connecticut, June 6-7. This year marked another record number of student members (16) of SITAR who entered the competition. The excellence that characterized all the presentations made the evaluation process difficult. After careful consideration of multiple criteria, four independent judges selected one winner: Kelly McDonald of Wilfrid Laurier University is the sixth recipient of the annual Wiggins Award for her presentation entitled “Socially Anxious Behavior Disrupts Patterns of Interpersonal Calibration”. Congratulations Kelly!
SITAR members can look forward to a presentation of Kelly’s award winning research in the fall issue of our newsletter. We are very proud of our student presenters and we look forward to welcoming more of their excellent interpersonal research in the future. We would like to thank everyone who participated in this year’s competition, including the judges, who were tireless in their efforts to reach a fair decision. Lastly, we encourage all of our student members to apply for the next year’s award.
