A Message from SITAR President – Nicole Cain
Greetings SITAR Members!
I hope 2016 is off to a good start! Things at SITAR are moving forward and we have some exciting updates to share with you.
I’m pleased to announce that the program is currently being finalized for the 19th Annual Meeting [SITAR 2016 – Berlin, Germany, July 29-30]. Notification of decisions on conference proposal submissions will be sent out shortly and the conference registration page is active so that you can begin to finalize your travel arrangements. We are delighted to have two stellar keynote speakers this year: Prof. Dr. Eva-Lotta Brakemeier (Psychologische Hochschule Berlin) and Prof. Dr. Mitja Back (University of Münster). Additional information about our upcoming conference can be found in this newsletter and at http://sitar2016.weebly.com. I look forward to seeing you all in Berlin!
In personnel news, Mark Lukowitsky (Newsletter Editor) and Aidan Wright (Associate Newsletter Editor) have stepped down from their roles on the newsletter. Please join me in thanking Mark and Aidan for their service! I am pleased to announce that Mike Roche has been named the new Editor of SITAR’s Newsletter. Mike has been an active member of SITAR for many years and I look forward to seeing how the newsletter grows under his leadership. I am also pleased to announce that Kate Thomas has agreed to serve in the position of Associate Newsletter Editor. Please contact either Mike or Kate with ideas for upcoming newsletters.
It is also my pleasure to introduce Sindes Dawood as the new Graduate Student Representative (GSR)! Sindes is a graduate student at The Pennsylvania State University and she has presented her research at several SITAR conferences. I look forward to working with Sindes in her new role as GSR on the Executive Council!
Finally, I would like to give a quick reminder about the Student Travel Grant Program. Over the past few years, this program has been very successful at supporting and reinforcing the contributions of our graduate students, who are the future of this organization. Members, as you know we are able to support travel grants through your generous donations. On behalf of the Executive Council and the students, we appreciate your support. You can donate to this year’s student travel fund here http://sitarsociety.weebly.com/student-travel-grant-program.html.
I look forward to another exciting year for SITAR.
See you in July!
